Potassium Iodide has a wide range of applications. It is useful as a radiation-blocker in the thyroid gland, typically consumed in the form of tablets at the time of a nuclear emergency. In addition, it is a component of certain disinfectants and hari treatment chemicals. It is also used as a nutritional supplement in the animal feed industry. Moreover, it can also be used for its heat resistence properties in polorising films for electronic screens, in nylon tyre cords and finally as a fire retardant too.
